A SHORT BACKGROUND on LISE.......

LISE AVERY is a singer, radio personality and actress.  Ms. Avery has performed in nightclubs, musicals and cabarets throughout the NY metro area and internationally including The Waldorf Astoria, Delmonico's, The Pierre Hotel, The Kool Jazz Festival, Bargemusic, The University Club, The Performing Arts Center at Purchase, The Williams Center for the Performing Arts, numerous corporate and private functions and many, many town events like First Nights and Summer Concert Series.  Lise is most frequently accompanied by her long-time music director Russ Kassoff. Lise was born on Long Island and spent the summers of her childhood traveling around the United States and Mexico in a trailer with her parents and her older brother, Rick. She is a graduate of the conservatory acting program at Purchase College where she whiled away her time with fellow students Stan Tucci, Steven Weber and Ving Rhames. Lise has taught voice production at several universities including Sarah Lawrence College and Montclair State University.

Ms. Avery can also be found sharing her love for artistry in music as host and producer of Anything Goes!!® with Lise Avery. Anything Goes!!, an internationally syndicated radio program, is an eclectic mix of standards, jazz and classic pop music with interviews and ‘a little bit of just about anything else’ mixed in. She began broadcasting Anything Goes!! in the NY Metro market in 1998. Anything Goes!! is currently heard on both commercial and NPR stations in various parts of the United States as well as across Taiwan (Click here to listen to a broadcast or recording of a show.)

Ms. Avery has been privileged to interview legends like Don Rickles, Herb Alpert, Dick Cavett, Sir James Galway and hundreds of others. After Ms. Avery interviewed Frank Sinatra, Jr., they remained very close friends until Mr. Sinatra’s passing in 2016. In 2017, Ms. Avery appeared as an expert on Frank Sinatra for a television documentary.

Anything Goes!! is recorded at Cityvox studios in New York City. Cityvox clients include Ghostlight Films, PBS, SONY, Disney. IBM, Coca Cola and Cambridge University Press. Documentarians Ken & Ric Burns use Cityvox exclusively to record the voiceovers for their films.

Lise’s speaking voice has also been heard in numerous commercials, medical instruction videos, video news releases, recorded books, documentary filmsetc. with clients ranging from Oxford University Press, Pearson Education and Berlitz to PBS, IBM and Disney. (Recording available upon request.) 

Lise lives in a turn-of-the century home in New Jersey with her husband George and her two cats Bandee and Shira. She is an avid scuba diver, animal lover and environmentalist and she loves hunting for treasures at flea markets and garage sales.  Whenever she can she spends time at her cottage in rural Ontario, Canada with mismatched clothing and unruly hair.
